Our Favorite Desserts

When it comes to desserts, it’s difficult to choose a favorite. So, instead, we’ve chosen a few of them! Whether you prefer something warm and comforting, chilly and sweet, or creamy and delicate, there is certainly a dessert choice for you. Keep reading for some of the best desserts you can find.

An Italian dessert that hails from the island of Sicily, the cannoli is a long-standing staple of Italian sweets. It consists of a deep-fried pastry dough that is formed into a tube. The tube is then filled with a delicate creamy filling. These desserts range in size from small, about the size of an adult finger, to large, nearly the size of an entire fist! This dessert is ideal for people who don’t have a major sweet tooth but do like a delicate sweetness after a meal.

Hazelnut Profiteroles

Profiteroles are said to have originated either in France or Italy. They are also called cream puffs in the US, so you are most likely familiar with some version of them. If not, they are essentially a puffed ball of pastry that has been filled with whipped cream, thick custard, or even ice cream. Our favorite version is hazelnut, which features delicate nuts and rich chocolate.

Chocolate Cake

The classic chocolate cake is a dessert that simply can’t be beaten. Whether you prefer a dense and moist cake or one that is light and fluffy, there are so many versions of this dessert that you’ll be certain to find one you like. Most feature a rich chocolate frosting, but you can also find versions that incorporate fruit fillings, caramel, and even coconut.

If you prefer a rich and creamy dessert, cheesecake is the one for you. Like chocolate cake, there are lots of different recipes and versions out there. Most homemade cheesecakes are the no-bake kind that often uses gelatin as a setting agent. However, the New York-style baked cheesecake is often a heartier, richer option to quench your sweet tooth’s needs. You can’t go wrong with a slice of original, but if you’re feeling adventurous, choose one with a topping. Chocolate, caramel, strawberry, Oreos – there’s no limit to what you can put on a cheesecake!

Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry shortcake is one of those desserts that we don’t often see in restaurants anymore. But why? This cake is an incredible choice for those who prefer a refined fruit-based dessert that isn’t overly sweet or filling. A good shortcake consists of delicate, crumbly cake layered with strawberries and their juices, and vanilla-flavored and sweetened whipped cream. The result is a slightly sweet, fruity, and not-overly filling dessert.

If you have a bit of a penchant for desserts, or just want to treat yourself to something tasty, head over to Caffe Strega for one of your favorites. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, try something new!
